Actually, this is a small section of a thorny branch on a wild blackberry bush at @ 10X-lifesize.
(That large red spiracle on the left is a single thorn.)

Thanks Kristy, Denise and Carolyn.It's amazing to me how the simplest of things can assume a life of their own in extreme macro.
That which we see every day is transformed into something totally new.
We often see little dramas unfolding that would otherwise go un-noticed.
We revel in the intimate detail which unfolds through our lenses...as we forever strive to get even closer.
Depth of field with a bellows assembly at this level of magnification is measured in microns so one realistically has to envision how the final product will actually appear.
...And there-in lies the challenge and the fascination.
