I think the picture is too dark and I don't really understand the topic... #15780

Anna,

i guess I might be slightly confused...what is too dark? I think that he is exposed well enough. there is quite a bit of negative space that is rather dark...but that is kind of the point. in terms of subject, I do think the shot might be a bit cluttered...this guy is up on a large stage with spotlights on him. the object to his right is a large speaker and behind him to the left is a music stand and microphone stand. he has just finished speaking for the evening at an a college bible study here at a&m called Breakaway. it was the last one of the semester and he was just excited about the semester...enough so to throw his arms up in the air...so there you go. I think that this shot is rather spontaneous and attempts to capture a little bit of genuine excitement...such that you would throw your arms up in the air. it is the kind that is just an out flow of your heart and happens so quickly that as a photographer you don't have as much time to fret over composition and exposure...you just have to shut up and shoot and hope you capture the emotion. so, I thank you for your opinion and I hope this helps. I also hope that you were looking to give constructive criticism rather than just listing reasons you dont like it...i am rather pleased with this image. #31611
