Circle of the Moon
Uploaded: November 08, 2004
Lunar eclipse of October 27 2004.
Composite of eclipse phases. Starting from the leftmost picture, the clockwise sequence of images shows the progress of the eclipse. Every two images are separated by 4 to 8 minutes. The difference in brightness between the fully lit moon and the fully eclipsed moon is over 1000 times, or 10 stops.
The Photoshop file is almost 1GB :)

Really Cool, Fefor!!!! Read your description but still don't know how you did it..... #186709Fedor G. Pikus November 08, 2004
Other than the size it's a fairly standard composite job: each shot is taken with 10D and 100-400L lens, all pictures stacked on separate layers in PS CS and arranged around an ellipse I used as a guide. Background sky is almost black, I just painted it with color sampled from one of the shots. I've attached one of the original shots. #898252Judy S. Fung November 08, 2004
