Breeding Time #2

Not exactly "Mile High Club" members, but more like about 5-7 meters high at this instant. Just a few short weeks ago, the color of these ibis were dark blue/slate all over. Now for breeding season, they are chestnut with iridescent green. Plegadis falcinellus--Glossy Ibis.

Nice Robert. I don't see these birds in the Florida Panhandle. Nice placement, gave them space to move into. I'll just have to come over there and shoot with you. The 40D does have a few more nice features than the 20D. You've done a nice job here. #5830235Robert G. Stalnaker April 23, 2008
Thanks for stopping by, Kathleen and Dick, and for your nice comments. These two photos I posted are from about six I was able to get in a "real surprise opportunity". Two baby bald eagles had just taken their first flight two days earlier. I was stationary for a long time, hoping the eaglets would take flight; I was anxious to see that since first flights can be a bit clumsy, even dangerous. All of a sudden, to my left, I was startled by these two glossy ibis that rose up quickly and went into some mating/courting display. My camera was setup for different lighting, different distance, etc., and this all happened pretty quickly, so out of the six photos, I got two that I was extremely pleased with. #5830432Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
