Beautiful shot, Pamela!!! I love the pink sky and rich color here! I've seen the Sandhill Cranes a few time in Nebraska. They make a wonderful sight when they are migrating. #183756

Thank you, Sharon!

We're pretty lucky in NM. The Cranes overwinter at Bosque del Apache in huge numbers. I love to go watch them!

Again, it is the layers that make this shot so incrediable. I love those clouds surrounding the mountains and the soft colors. If I were to change anything, I may lighten up the birds just a touch. Very well done, and I love your DOF, everything is nice and crisp. #881414

This is a gret shot! Arthur Morris, a world renowned bird photographer from Florida (and our mentor), brags about Bosque de Apache - from your shot it seems to be everything he says and more! You are lucky to have a place like this to go and photograph large number of birds. Tell us more about your photographing playground... Dick & Sara #881643

Thank you, Peggy, Dick and Sara!

I love Bosque del Apache! It has great wildlife photography opportunities year-round, but winter (as in this shot) is the time to go and see the huge flocks. During the fall, there are a lot of shorebirds, ducks, and pelicans that migrate through. During the winter, huge flocks of Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese fill the ponds and the air. It's amazing!

Here are some other shots I've taken there:
Escheresque
Hunter
Synchronized Swimming
The Lookout
Tranquility
A Small Catch
The Birds
The Stalker
Searching
Guard Duty
Sign of a Hot Day
Little Predator
A Hard Year
Nocturnal Roost
Walking on Water
Flash of Yellow
Mimicry
Ice-scape

That will give you a good idea of some of the variety there.... I love it!
