Canyon de Chelly National Monument, CO
Uploaded: March 26, 2008
People have lived in these canyons for nearly 5,000 years - longer than anyone has lived uninterrupted anywhere on the Colorado Plateau. Archaic 2,500-200BC, Basketmaker 200BC-750AD, Pueblo 750-1,300, Hopi 1,300-1,600, Navajo 1,700-1,863, have lived in the canyon over time. The Navajo live there today.

Kristy, Claudia and Lisa, Thank you!! There are many cliff type dwellings on the canyon floor but the lighting was bad and I could not get a good picture. Next time I`ll take the tour to see them up close.Dianna Murphy March 29, 2008

Denny, they should make you head of tourism for the state. Isn't it awesome to see so much green on the canyon floor in this photo and it scontrast to the canyon walls. Fantastic composition. #5813555Denny E. Barnes April 22, 2008
