From the CC.....Scott...I love this shot. Very cool shadow work going on here! I really don't think there is a lot more you can do to make this better. I love the colors and there isn't a lot of noise either! :) Wonderful job! #879358Scott A. McDaniel March 17, 2008
Thanks Danielle. I wanted to see if the crop gave anyone any distress. It gives me a little and I'm not sure why. Not enough room for his legs? Maybe? Not sure. Thank you for the feedback. #5652713Aimee C. Eisaman March 17, 2008
Great Shot Scott! This is very original and I just love the colors. I'm with you on the crop.....it is so hard to tell with portrait crops because I cannot view them in their entirety (spelling) on my screen. Maybe a tad too much blackness overall. I'd say try another crop and see what ya think. Great work though....I'm impressed! #5652783Scott A. McDaniel March 17, 2008
Thanks Aimee. The original photo was actually fairly bad. Nick was blowing bubbles in the backyard by a cinder block wall (lots of distractions). I went black to remove the distractions then started playing with removing parts of Nick to make him look like he was looking into a spotlight at night. I liked it considerably better black so I left it. Thanks for your feedback. I love CC, it has helped me so much. #5653665Shannon D. Miller March 17, 2008
Scott! This is soooo....AWESOME!!! I can't get over the magnificent lighting and black bg yet those vibrant colors stand so bright! You are so creative my friend and this is a BEAUTIFUL capture!!! Excellent work! Shannon~ #5654145Scott A. McDaniel March 17, 2008
Come on Shannon, you're gonna make me blush. I'll show you what I did if you show me how to do the perfect black and white/burn treatment that you use...just kidding...kind of. Later tonight I will attach the original, you'll laugh, its "no es bueno"! Thank you for being so sweet to me. #5654355Scott A. McDaniel March 17, 2008
Here is the original. #5655088Jennifer L. Alder March 17, 2008
OH COOL! Scott-- this was a fantastic idea-- and it looks really good as is. I hear what you are saying about the space thing...the first thing that came to my mind was actually a crop. If it were me, I would crop up to a little below the blue bubble bottle and in from left for balance. This would make the bubbles follow the rule of thirds and make him look less like he was floating. I do love it, though... nicely done! :) #5655403Scott A. McDaniel March 18, 2008
Thank you Jennifer. I will play with the crop and see what I come up with. #5658392Teresa Norris March 18, 2008
Wow, Scott...seeing the original and the result is amazing! The colors are fabulous against the black. With a little crop, I think this will be even more stunning. The way you used the black is so cool...it totally looks like he's under a spot. #5658555Scott A. McDaniel March 18, 2008
Thank you Teresa! #5658657Brian Smyer March 18, 2008
Wow, very nice work. I almost passed over this as it looked very dark on the minipic. I'm glad I didn't, what a great suprise. All those colors and shadows are great. #5660864Scott A. McDaniel March 19, 2008
Thank you Brian. #5663720Shannon D. Miller March 19, 2008
WOW!!! Well I would like to see the blushing Scott! You really knocked this one out my friend! I would have never guessed! I might share with you...just kidding. Have a great day!Scott A. McDaniel March 19, 2008
I can't bring myself to do a self portrait so you'll have to live with shots of my kids. :)As far as your secret is concerned: I'll keep trying. What if I'll be your best friend? Yeah, that hasn't worked since I was 8 but it was so good to me from ages 6-8 that I just can't abandon the technique. #5664393
