Hey Mike, Thanks a million! I love in-flight shots as well as they are so filled with drama. It's definitely a challenge to keep it on the straight and level and get the proper DOF, focus and composition. #5576800

Great shot of these Skimmers, Michael - just saw your comment on the skimmer photo I recently posted - I "discovered" them last year in the Back Bay of Newport Beach, CA - they are now my favorite bird!
I have a few more photos further into my gallery and also here:
I know what you mean about their eyes! #5580274

Report: The FAA is studying the feasibility of modeling future air travel on bird behavior utilizing new flexible aircraft structure designs and airports without runways.

Well, O.K. you may not see that headline in your morning paper anytime soon, but it's hard to argue that mother nature has a far more efficient system for getting her "aircraft" into flight rapidly. I captured these Black Skimmers in this mass departure on Miami's South Beach early one Sunday morning. Unlike the gulls and terns, the skimmers have a much larger "comfort" zone. Here they were startled by a hotel employee moving some lounges out for the day's visitors.
