Description

Jefferson Memorial framed by a cherry blossom tree, obtained April 2004. This is a favorite shot the Memorial because the cool lines of the monument contrast so well with the assymetric, jagged tree. Shot with Nikon D100, Nikkor 18-35mm lens, settings unknown. Levels, color correction achieved with Photoshop 7.0

That is a great angle Stephen. We've visted DC a few times this summer but I've never gotten that great of angle of the Jefferson. Where were you when you took that? #177643

Brenda, thanks for the kind words. The shot was taken from the western side of the Tidal Basin in late afternoon just off the footpath that circles the basin. When the sun is low to the west the light will partially illuminate the tree trunks as well as the monument. I also used fill flash to illuminate the trunk. #836380
