LEFT WING OF EXTINCT DE SOTO BIRD
Uploaded: February 09, 2008
It was only by sheer chance that I was able to document the discovery of this rare species. While in Palm Springs we made an unscheduled stop and as I waited for my wife I happened to glance toward the shadows. I noticed two men who had evidently resurrected this now defunct specimen and after a short inquiry I was allowed to document the discovery on film.

Wow, wow, wow! Dale, I love this! Colors, comp, the sweeping soft lines ... winner! #850823Brinn MacDougall February 09, 2008
Wonderful story-line and capture, Dale! #5469067Dale Hardin February 09, 2008
Thanks so much Deb. Speaking of Wow, your "green means go" is so cool. What a great idea. Liked the flood shot of the Merc also. My first car was a 49 Ford coupe and I always admired the lines of the Mercury during that time period. Ah-h-h the good old days. #5469198Dale Hardin February 09, 2008
Thanks Brinn. The funny thing is that it's all true. When I talked to them they said to wait a few minutes and the lot would be filled with more specimen, but sadly the sun was already down and what little light there was faded in an instant. #5469208Mihai Matei February 09, 2008

Thank you Tiia. Your latest abstract is gorgeous. I'd love to have a shirt made from that material to wear to Hawaii in June. Dale #5470141Chuck Bruton February 09, 2008
Dale, you do such a good job capturing these classicsDale Hardin February 09, 2008
Thanks a bunch Chuck. Got real lucky on that one with the light. Dale #5471270Reynaldo D. Reyes February 11, 2008
Love the composition and dynamic lines with this capture of a classic. The unique design would now be preserved for a long time in digital format. Did I read you correctly that you captured this on film. I'll say, there are still a few stragglers like me who still love the analog format. I still can't give up my film camera. #5478850Dale Hardin February 11, 2008
Hi Reynaldo. No, I don't use film. Too expensive. The last time I used film was on a trip to New Zealand. Got home and found out my shutter has frozen and eight rolls of film had nothing on them. Bummer. #5480386Aimee C. Eisaman December 05, 2008

Awesome, Dale!!!Did you try 'not' blurring the corners? #6855774
Dale Hardin December 05, 2008
Thanks Joan and UV.Yes, Ulysses, I did try it without the vignette, but it turned out to be more effective this way. Who knows why? It just seemed to work. #6856504
