Description

f/2, 1/640, ISO 1600, 85mm. One of my coworkers asked if I would photograph her two daughters playing high school volleyball and it led to shooting the entire season, then selling the images via a pro gallery on Shutterfly. I learned all about light balance, going from gym to gym, as well as noise, shooting at SIO 1600. I would shoot about 750 images per match of which about 1/3 were of somewhat acceptable sharpness. While I shot jpgs, I purchased Adobe Lightroom in order to make the global white balance and exposure changes necessary for the mass quantity of images. I made enough in image sales (after Shutterfly commissions) to pay the annual fee for the pro gallery and little more. Still, it was a nice challenge after work. While the match was only an hour, I spent about three times that in post processing and uploading.

Exif: F Number: 2, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/640 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 1600, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 85.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 20D
