Description

f/4, 1/100, ISO 400, 16mm, Canon 20D's built-in flash for fill. Last summer I asked to photograph some of the winners for The Maui News Best of Maui section. I had about 15 minutes to get in and out for this one. My concept: a waiter, a hostess, the wine guy, and a chef. I shot a bunch outside but I liked this best. I shoot in RAW, which was the only reason I was able to use this shot. Are blown highlights ever acceptable? While the exterior light provided nice backlighting, it was nearly overpowering above the waiter's head.
