Psychedelic San Francisco view from Coit Tower

Uploaded: January 21, 2008

Description

f9, 26mm, Canon 17-40L, ISO 400. I experimented with HDR photography during a 4-hour walk across San Francisco. I loved the effect on this viewer but the distant image did not line up. (I was still searching for a compact tripod.) So I composited another "view" image (f9, 40mm, 1/500 second) that wasn't HDR (it really didn't line up), then accentuated the surreal effect with some aggressive post processing.

Exif: F Number: 9.1, ISO: 400, FocalLength: 26.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 40D

I can't believe I get to be the FIRST one on this image. I really love the "movie" feeling you have created as well as the juxtaposition of the meter and the city. Very beautifully done:) #955841

Thanks, Molly. I liked this one, too. I think perhaps because of the obvious post-processing (and the compositing), some might think it a bit of a cheat.

Now that I have a multitude of tripods, when I'm next in SFO I'll try to get it all in the camera. (But I'll drive there, instead of walking for five hours as I did on this photo walkabout.) #6148078

Nicely composed Terrie. A great view image and digital darkroom feature. Congratulations! #6159529
