Keep breaking the rules Colleen, this is a fantastic close up, the details are excellent! #5298684Jennifer L. Alder January 06, 2008
A VERY beautiful cat, Colleen. I think the detail, color and light here are fantastic!Alex T. Mizuno January 06, 2008
Colleen, I'm really impressed with the sharpness of this beautiful kitty! Can you tell me what lens you are using?Don't worry about rules of composition. This is powerful and effective as a close-up. Look at Sergio Leone's close-ups in his films. They have no ears :) #5298694

Thank you so much for the great comments and encouragement, Lynne, Jennifer and Alex!Alex, it was a Nikon 70-300mm at 300mm. I can't remember if it was handheld or on a tripod. BTW, very interesting tip about Sergio Leone's close-ups--I'm a big film buff! #5298720

Gorgeous closeup Colleen!!!! #5298742Alex T. Mizuno January 06, 2008
Thank you Colleen for sharing info. Now I know what lens to get!I'm glad you know Leone. When the chimes end, pick up your camera!

Beautiful capture, Colleen! #5298909Nancy (Peaches) Harker January 06, 2008
Well, I am glad you loaded it too, beautiful kitty, and I would think if your doing a close up of eyes and whiskers, how can ya have his ears in there too LOL!Melinda F. Schneider January 06, 2008
A beautiful close-up; you accomplished what you set out to. If cutting off ears in a close up is "breaking the rules," I'm guilty, too. I love this shot! #5299092Sam Britt January 06, 2008
Wonderful close-up of Spider, Colleen. He was so beautiful. #5299719Nikki McDonald January 06, 2008
Great close up and I love the composition. I noticed his face immediately, especially the eyes and whiskers, and thought nothing (negative) of the close crop until I read your own description. I actually think the fact that most of the whiskers--amazingly sharp--are cropped off across the bottom lets them lead our eye into the frame and up to the face. You will miss Spider. #5299733Jessica Jenney January 06, 2008
Spider was so beautiful, Colleen! Thanks for sharing this gorgeous image with us! #5299857Vladan D. Djordjevic January 06, 2008

Spider was a beautiful cat. I think the composition works perfectly here. It brings the focus to those fantastic eyes. #5301743Shirley A. Kinney January 06, 2008
Colleen, Spider is beautiful as is your tribute to Spider. I also have a "stray" cat I have owned for 9 years now and "Bob" is very dear to me. Her real name is Scrappy but since she had no tail my husband always caller her Bob and that stuck. She looks a lot like Spider. #5301889Daniella Puente January 06, 2008
The focus is really perfect Colleen and the POV you capture is GREAT +++++ #5301936Colleen Farrell January 06, 2008
