Corridor of Colors

Uploaded: November 25, 2007

Description

A brilliantly colored southern corridor of The Nave at the National Cathedral in Washington DC due to sun running through the stained glass which lines the opposite wall. According to fellow BPer Chris Budny, who is a weekend docent at the Cathedral, the spectacular influx of rainbow colors occur in this corridor on sunny days during the fall season caused by a low positioning of the sun coming up at sunrise. A special thanks to Chris for this rare and special morning treat. It was just beautiful!

Sue, I'm just now seeing this for the first time; needless to say, I LOVE it! :)
I certainly don't have a monopoly on photographing this beautiful place; I'm thrilled there are others who share and publicize the building through beautiful images like this... you become kind of an honorary docent in that regard, sharing the building with others.
I will likely *never* get tired of this south arcade aisle, as long as I remain a docent, or just visit at the cathedral. #5270633

Thanks, Chris! I love it, too, especially all those colors. But I think it's a little bit too dark, so I might work on it and re-submit. I'm still on vacation and may try and get into the cathedral to try my luck again. A few things that I've learned and tried on the camera on my recent outings at night in DC, so I would like to try them out there, too. I don't think I could ever get tired of the cathedral; there is just too much there and I just love the gothic style. And everytime I go I see something I didn't notice before. #5270657
