Closeness wasn't a great problem - I have over 80 images of this particular family of owls - they took up residence in a gum tree in our backyard - Mum Dad and three babies (Boobook owls) - and quietly watched everything we did over the eight weeks they were there - lens was 300mm which effectively 460mm on EOS 300D and I was able to stand right beneath the owls in the late afternoon light - they never got upset. Lighting was tricky though. #671924

Thanks. Unfortunately being late afternoon most times the lighting was very tricky and this is the absolute best. Other shots need more work but I possibly could eventually put up a few on a site - probably with other bird images to make it worthwhile. I have another image of a Western Spinebill on the site here as well. #682565
