Oh My Gosh! :-) This is such a BEAUTIFUL portrait. The lighting, her skin, the sheets/blankets about her. I trust you had this printed up LARGE and it's framed and on a wall in your home. And yes - really wonderful!!!! #645271

Can you give me details on how you achieved this look. I love it!! #646337

Andre Marhaug July 14, 2004

Thank you, Lisa. I'll try to explain the details regarding the look.

First of all: It was a good photographic moment: My daughter asleep in the rental holiday appartment in Spain a couple of years ago. And, she looked just like an angel :-)

Well, let us bypass my subjective view of my daughter, and talk about the picture:

It's captured with a filmbased, manual slr-camera. Inside the house, without flash. In Photoshop, I have reduced colors (it tend to be to warm/orange in artifical electric light, you know).

Then, I have used the tool "dodge brush" to eliminate the surroundings.

To soften the image, I have used double layers: One sharp and one blured, where the blured has opacity of 40%.

Best regards: André
