Fiddlehead

Uploaded: May 24, 2004

Description

Macro shot of a baby fern. Not sure what those in other parts of the country call these baby ferns but we call them fiddleheads. This time of year you can see people along the river picking them either for their own eating or to sell to others. I didn't pick any cause I'm not fond of eating them but they made for interesting photo subjects.

Great macro shot, Marcie, and interesting commentary about this fern. I'd never heard of it. Thank you, and keep up the great work! #131050

Thanks so much Kenton and Mike.

Kenton . . . glad you enjoyed the commentary as well. I was going to try to describe how they taste too but it's kind of indescribable. A lot of people drown them in butter or vinegar so . . . #557418

Im with you, I much rather photograph them then eat them, your lighting is great here along with your detail. #558557

Thanks Darren.

I take it you've had the experience of eating themt then. I do try a few about once a year. More out of a sense of duty than any paticular like for them (LOL)!! #558963
