The Pole House Description: The Pole House at Fairhaven near the start of the Great Ocean Road is one Australia's most easily recognizable and iconic homes. Built in 1978 by architect/engineer Frank Dixon it is one of the few survivors of the 1983 Ash Wednesday bushfires. It sits perched on a concrete pole about 40 meters above the beach at Fairhaven and offers unsurpassed and stunning views along the ocean from Airey's Inlet to Lorne. This is a HDR image created from a single RAW file with a fair bit of post-processing. Nikon D50 18-200mm VR lens. Uploaded on 5/28/2007 2:40:33 PM
