American Goldfinch - Breeding Plumage

Uploaded: April 27, 2007

Description

ISO 800, f/8, 1/160 sec, Canon 400mm IS DO lens, handheld. Taken outside my office at work. This male American Goldfinch has almost completed his molt into breeding plumage, but traces of his winter plumage can be seen with the duller/drab patches of feathers. Adjusted in PSCS2.

Wonderful capture of this little guy, John! We have a lot of goldfinches (thanks to our thistle seed feeders) but I can never get close enough to see the details you've captured. Beautifully done! Just saw this in the Editor's First Picks. #4253441
