Jeff, This is an awesome shot! I enjoy taking action shots of sports events and would love to show more motion. How did you create this shot to capture the motion effect??

Happy shooting,
Kim #10608

Jeff, I must've missed this one in the contest entries. You DID enter it, yes? if not, then you should (but only after mine---ha ha). Excellent shot. Perfect. Hope you got out of the way in time... #10612

Hi Kim thankyou for your kind comments. I too like action shots and the motion effect. With this shot I was standing in the path of the bike (it was all planned out carefully and my friend is very experienced at moto x)because of the front on shot there was no motion effect. so I decided to give it more impact by digitaly giving it motion. I opened up the photo in photoshop 6.0. I then applied a mask over the picture and carfully selected the rider and bike, after the selection was complete I inverted the selection so that when I selected the motion blur only the area around the rider would be affected. I then selected a radial blur filter using the zoom setting at 40% and applied it. That is how I done it. I hope this has helped, I have taken motion shots by panning the camera with the moving subject using a slower shutter speed and got the motion effect without using any digital effects:).
Hi Piper thankyou for your kind remark and yes I did enter it in the contest ;) and I did get out of the way just in time :).
