Red Panda...panting

Description

Taken at the Cincinnati Zoo. f5.6 @ 1/125, tripod, fill flash. This little guy kept trotting very quickly around the exhibit on a well worn path, until he finally had to pause to catch his breath! Just happened to look straight up at me for a quick portrait.

Cathy, I just went to your gallery (wow! impressive) and I love the shot that you have of the red panda. Such soft lighting. He looks so cuddly!
Thanks again for the comment!

I think I'm caught up now! I've purposely saved this one to come back to, as it is my clear favourite of the month. You've got several potential winners already this month, but this one has my vote. It's got the colours, the detail, the eye contact, the catch light...it's got EVERYTHING! Most of all, this animal is very timid, even in captivity. I see fabulous bear and great cat photos often (yours included), but this is truly a rare gem (and so is Cathy's, I agree). Great work! Congratulations once again on both of your February finalists! Although there are many great photos this month, I'm confident that I'll be writing this to you again in April after they post the March contest results! #435095
