Steady Stare
Uploaded: March 08, 2004
This one really took me by surprise! At the Cincy zoo, I had been following a cheetah at the far side of the exhibit through my viewfinder for some time, hoping she would walk toward me. (camera on tripod, 300 mm zoom fully extended, shooting through chain link). When I gave up and stepped back, "Amber" had come out of hiding and was just a few feet away staring at me. I was so startled I almost forgot to refocus before tripping the shutter!

Wow, pretty intense stare. Bet you were glad to have that chain link fence between the two of you! Beautiful, Marie. Good job.Gianna Stadelmyer March 08, 2004
Fantastic portrait shot of her, Marie! Great dof and the background color blends so well with the cheetah. Love the full frontal stare! Patience really pays off! #413690Susan T. Parady March 08, 2004

Excellent detail and capture. #414812Eric Highfield March 19, 2004
Wow, Marie, you just don't miss! Your patience for the shot shows in each of your images, and they're always amongst those that stand out from the crowd. As a primarily film shooter, you probably don't have luxury of shooting a couple hundred shots in a single Zoo visit (unless you grow your own film!). This An attribute to hang on to for sure! I know that when I use my film cameras after using Digital for awhile, I need to relearn this patience thing...usually takes half a roll before I remember to pace myself! #434976Marie Fields March 19, 2004
