Description


While in Arizona we went to an old mining town called Vulture Mine, near Wickenburg. The buildings are run down and falling apart, but it was a neat place to visit. I really liked the way the late afternoon sun shone through the doors and windows into the old abandoned buildings, casting long shadows across the floor. The jug in this shot was sitting on the floor in the middle of a room - no idea why, but it made for a good shot.

Low, late afternoon (or early morning) light is famous for bringing up long shadows and texture when at a 45 to 90 degree angle to your subject. I suspect that's part of what encouraged your desire to capture this shot. This is a beauty! You did a great shop capturing the texture and the light, which is what photography is all about!
