Through the Arch

Description

This picture was taken in June 2006, on a hot (38 degrees!) and hazy day, at around midday, in Beijing, on the Great Wall, at Mutianyu.
I have wanted to walk on the Wall for a long time, and when a really cheap deal came up for a 3-day weekend, I jumped at it!!

F4.0, shutter speed 1/160 sec., focal length 7.1, ISO 50, no white balance, no flash.

Excellent photo! I could see this as a mural painted on a wall; it really gives you a sense of depth. #562999

Beautiful composition , Debi. I was there last year during the Jan period and very cold there. I enjoyed the trips. Let see your image taken with new digital SLR in the future. #3671658

Thanks, Graeme. Brrrrr, it must have been freezing in January.
In fact, one of the reasons I splashed out on the DSLR was because I was so dissatisfied with many of my pictures from the Great Wall (and from the Hong Kong fireworks). My old, although more than reasonable, camera, just didn't give me the manual override and fine-tuning that the DSLR does. #3671662
