Thanks. This photo was recently selected to go on the United
Nations Environmental Photography tour,
which is appearing in venues from Tokyo
to London. This is a great honor
and a statistical miracle, as there
were almost sixty thousand entries.
I didn't get the first prize, which
was a trip to tokyo and a lot of money.
there's never any figuring what judges
will like but I'm grateful to have
made the top 100 cut. #2207050

Thank you Carolyn, this is an image very
close to my heart. It's a virtual centerpiece to my entire body of work.
Right now, a large print of it is hanging in
a bank!

This photo has such a Tolkienesque, fantasy world quality that I gave it this temporary name. It is actually two photos taken in the same place at different times of t he day. The tree and window, in Arches National Park, were taken late in the afternoon. Then, at around midnight, I photographed the sky with camera atop my motorized telescope. The second exposure was ten minutes. Then, when I returned home, it was a matter of taking out the daylight sky and swapping in the Milky Way.
