Hi Lewis,Jim here. We are going to feature your photo in this month's Where in the World quiz.
It's an awesome shot and, for those BetterPhoto members who are Monk-like detectives, it might just be possible to figure out the place.
Don't give away any clues... let's see just how easy or difficult this Where in the World is.
Best wishes, players... may the best guesser (or detective) win! #113077

I'm guessing a North American Zoo... just not sure which one.Lyn Adams #457384

It doesn't look quite real to me. I once visited a sporting goods store that had taxidermy animals set up in natural looking scenes and that is sort of what this looks like to me. So I am guessing it is someplace like that.Ashby A. B. April 01, 2004
I'm thinking somewhere in the Eastern US......VA or North Carolina? Although the sports shop answer is a good one!Ashby #457951

My guess is it's at NorthWest Trek in western Washington state. I have a shot almost just like this one taken there.Harold - Olympia, WA #458070

I think it's in a museum somewhere! #458136Jim Miotke My Courses April 01, 2004
You guys all have good guesses but here's a hint... the answer is somewhere on the BetterPhoto site. How's that for a Easter Egg hunt?
Have fun! #458149

At NWTrek's I saw a mote, but no stones. This animal looks a little fat for being in the wild, but I will go with where the cougars are, anyway: Vancouver Island, BC.Laurie L. Snidow April 01, 2004
I think it's real and in the mountains of Colorado most likely, could be Arizona or New Mexico or even Big Bend Texas. Guess I'll search the site for a possible answer ;-). #458374Laurie L. Snidow April 01, 2004
Okay, here is my final guess after reviewing the web site again. Triple D in California. #458379Chris London April 01, 2004
Hmm, Lewis is from Sacramento, not that far from Triple D... But could be San Diego Zoo... #458568Lorraine A. Steele April 01, 2004
Hi Lewis, I'm not sure how far off base I am, but are these 2 different photos, merged into one. Is that a dolphin in the water looking up at the lion?Lewis Kemper April 01, 2004
No it's just one image, shot on film - no photoshop work at all. #458991Jim Miotke My Courses April 02, 2004
Excellent guesses everyone. And, guess what? We have a winner!Laurie S. with her second answer got it right. This is indeed the central California ranch where Triple D brings beautiful animals to be photographed. Laurie found the answer at our Triple D page.
Excellent detective work, Laurie ;-) Good guessing everyone. And fantastic image, Lewis.
Have an excellent spring! #459761
