Hi Laura,
I think that most photographers who are learning the craft to day will never hike a couple of miles through snow with 40 pounds of 8X10 camera strapped to their back. Of course they will never have the experience of seeing a contact print of an image like this. There is something very special about a traditional image; that is made with silver photo paper, where the negative is not enlarged, just put onto the paper. Look at original work by Edward Weston, if you want to see a master of this craft. It was difficult to make this image, but I am really glad I did the work. Thanks, John Siskin
