Congratulations on your beautiful finalist. Good luck in the next round. #3368576

it was the nicest wake-up I've had in a couple years at least-- and have to say, that I am very happy just to be a finalist with a camera that works less than 50% of the time

and oh, my frog will be so happy, too, but now he has to learn the Schumann Papillons--there's only 12 of them and I think that they would be just fine with the Scarlatti Sonatinas or Schubert's Moments Musicaux. We keep adding demands to the repertoire... but don't you think a little Schumann and a little photography would make a very nice little evening? a nice little cd?

Beautiful work! The colors are amazing. I love the "outline" of the wings. Congratulations on being a finalist! #3379151

pretty disheartening isn't it? just think what kind of oblivion I would fall into if I actually ever won or achieved anything in life-- oh well. back to the frogs in the little pond. #3379550

thankk-you very much for your encouragement.

I was excited when I received the notice, but as it wasn't noticed I realized it truly was an elusive yellow.

Yes, Mary your finalist is really beautiful with unusual pastel colors where others use highly saturated colors for butterflies. This looks more like an impressionist painting with the play of light upon the colors and form. Great job!!! #3399368

is straight photography-- this is how it came out of the camera and I did nothing but take the picture while rolling around in the grass at Srbsko in the closing twilight. and it was not so easy because it was heavy dusk and natural light and my first yellow, so I was very pleased to add it to my collection

think it is a Berger's Clouded yellow #3401472

Such beautiful color, Mary. I enjoy reading your witty dialogue, too. Congratulations on your Finalist! You have many gorgeous butterfly images here in your gallery. (I'm not so good at commenting with dial-up on this computer, but I did take a nice long look around here.) Amazing work...keep it up! #3404793

thank-you Joy-- especiallu
y for the heads up last night. As for the dialogue, you can tell that already I'm dithering in old age. thanks for the visit, I think you had a small tour and left footprints behind you. #3404899

thank-you very much-- the yellows and whites are very difficult to photograph becuse they don't sit down for good Bohemian beer. and this was really an addition to the collection. #3431542

thank-you very much for the comment. the computer kind of died and without it it was rather impossible to access the net or clear the mailbox from all the incoming stuff it collects... #3750217

Well Mary, this is an awesome capture and much prettier than the dung beetle. It reminds me of an Easter morn peeling the wonderful pastel colored egg shells. Don't think I'd recommend using salt on this one though. Sorry for the late kudos but it takes us old guys a bit of time to get going. You commented on one of my photos way back on July 31st, '06. Oh well, better late than never, huh? #3938222

hahahha this is a terrific post--and thanks for the amusing visit. The elusive yellow was so elusive as a Finalist that it never got noticed-- and so I rather realized that BP was all about cliques and mutual admiration societies of people who happily plaster each other with great compliments so I started sticking my pictures elsewhere to receive recognitions which they did.

and I rather like the dung beetle-- he was a very amusing little fellow who gave me a fight for his portrait and he's about as low as I will ever go for photography.

but you know Naso was known for his nose and not his popeyes.... :) #3938502
