Description

In Willemstad, Curacao, a pedestrian walks across the floating Queen Emma Bridge, which swings out several times a day to let ships pass through the harbor.

Patricia, this is a very interesting, bright and colourful picture. It looks to me, though, as if it might be tilting just a bit towards the left. You might want to rotate it a tad towards the right. #5006

Thanks Gerda. The street itself is a bit crooked and uncared-for. But I could take care of that in photo editing and save the road maintenance crew a lot of money. LOL. I'll give it a try. #7171

Patricia: I find this very interesting, too! The photo really caught my eye -- the curves, colors, and composition. And the pedestrian makes a good accent. Kerry #7174

Kerry, thanks very much. That pedestrian was a local who couldn't wait until the bridge was fully back in position. He darted on out so I got a shot of just him instead of the many people who were still waiting behind the barricade.

And Gerda, I took another close look at the photo in my PS Elements program, and I believe that the perceived tilting might be an optical illusion. There are those arched, curving light posts coming from the left, and the buildings in the background are facing toward the left. Plus there's the crooked, buckled-up walkway. I'm not certain, but I believe all of these elements may have combined to create an optical illusion. The white pole on the right does appear to be straight up and down.
