Description

f/2.8, 1/8th second, ISO64, Tungsten, -.3ev
I went to the National Arboretum to check on the blooming status of the azaleas (which are, simply, staggering)... by the time I arrived (on a very wet dreary day) it had suddenly turned gorgeous & sunny. Foolishly, I didn't have my camera, anticipating a day of rain. After enjoying the weather & just walking around for a few hours, I took home this dandelion, determined to photograph SOMETHING that day!

Look at it this way, everyone photographs the azaleas in the natl aboretum, but how many take dandelions home and create something with such striking colors. #2704984

I love the colour and texture, Christopher - excellent shot! #2705239

Thank you all, Ray, Dennis & Leanne, for commenting! And thanks Dennis, for putting the "lost opportunity" into perspective! ;) Although I will still probably head back there tomorrow--the azaleas are just too magnificent!!
I was stumped for a background on this shot (setting up in my kitchen) and didn't want the plain white wall behind the fine white 'puffs' so I opted to place a large blown glass bottle directly behind the dandelion, and the under-cabinet lights then illuminated the glass from behind. #2706866

Thank you, Michael (hope you're right!) Judith and Revonda!
Judith, the red background comes from the same glass bottle that features in my image "Strong Sun" on page 2 in my gallery (can't see much of it there, but the gorgeous red shadow it casts!) #3756055
