Bill,
Sorry for the delay with my reply. I "accidently" (never happens to me!) passed over your comment. In the meantime you visited my wife's gallery also and we thank you for the comments. This pacture was taken from the top of the Schilthorn, where the famous 007 film was made! They have a small display rom there and you can see snips of the film. The weather was absolutely georgeous and next day we took the train to the Kleine Scheidegg below the Matterhorn.

It sure was a nice day! BTW, you seem to like old steam engines! One summer job I had, was waiter on the CPR, from Vancouver to Winnipeg. Three big engines to go up the Rockies, and then one of those prairie locs with the huge drivers, hitting 100 mph! Aircon was ice in the roof! Them were the days... #2627120

I actually do not notice too much of a difference between the two?? #4848814

Double holds better - they say... Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (Eiger, Monk and Virgin), THE famous three peaks. To the top of the Jungfrau the cog railway runs, the Eiger has the most (in)famous "Nordwand". The picture is taken from the Schilthorn where the 007 movie was shot. #4849474

Before I was injured in 2005, I had hoped to visit the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau area, as I've read so much about the area and yearned for 40 years to visit. In 2005, it looked like it would be possible and my dentist informed of the mountains best to visit. I planned to take the cog railway, had the whole trip laid out. Then, I fell and fractured my hip along with needing a new knee from another injury years past.

Now, with total hip and total knee on the same side I can not walk well and my husband feels it would be better not to go until I can walk again. I feel like the invalid in the book, Heidi, by Johanna Spyri. I long to return to the mountains and hike the wilderness as I had during my 20's up to the Mount of the Holy Cross and Eagles Nest near Vail (Colorado -USA).

Keeping posting your beautiful captures for the world to share. It gives me something for which to aim before time runs out.

Danke Schoen!

Magnificent view, splendidly captured,Alex! No small effort to reach that location, and no doubt with a heavy tripod. #6832161

Hello Tom, and - if you are still listening - Bunny!

First, Bunny, I completely oversaw your nice message of last March! I do hope that you are better off in the meantime. And let me tell you: Even as an invalid, you can go easily up to the Eiger, Moench and Jungfrau. The cog railway takes you effortless up there and on top you have many excellent facilities.

And Tom, no, it was not much of an effort, unless you mean entering two cable gondolas and looking aorund a heavy effort. And, no, that time no tripod that the assistant had to lug... #6834848
