Vader

Description

Quite high up on the NW tower you'll find Darth Vader as one of the cathedral's fifteen-hundred-plus carved stone figures known as grotesques. The result of a 1980 children's contest in which kids submitted their own drawings as designs for 4 new grotesques. As the north side of a building rarely receives direct sun during the year, Vader is installed here, appropriately, on what is... wait for it... the dark side of the cathedral, of course!

Thanks, Joanna; I punched up the darks a little bit, to give Vader the right mood ;) #11631747
