Hi Bett, I love this type of photography but it's very demanding. It looks like you got it when there was no wind, a minor miracle! I'm guessing you stopped all the way down to get maximum DOF but macro lenses are very limited in this respect, giving you a frustratingly narrow and flat slice of focus. It looks like the point of focus is near the center fairly close to the lens but maybe you elected a softer defocused look? Anyway, I'm a fanatic for sharp focus but rarely achieve it :-(One technique I've tried is focus stacking - taking many shots throughout the depth of the subject and using PhotoShop to stack them afterwards. This is very tedious and best done indoors. Still I may try it in a future assignment.
One other approach is to focus on the perimeter of the seed head; this might cause the viewer's mind to fill in sharp details for the out of focus center.

Hi Joe - thanks for your input, I appreciate ity. I am new to macro and and finding it to be very challenging.
