This is my Favorite in the Series. The contrast of the Human element vs. the Stone deity is thought provoking. Who is looking & talking about who here? Wonderful capture.. Fantastic! #11548852

The light and contrast in this image spectacular Ujjwal!!! BTW I was wondering if you know how many visitors there are a year and do they have any rules to preserve this amazing place!!! #11548898

Thank you,all!
John, Both Ajanta and Ellora are world heritage sites and reasonably protected. All the photos that I have posted so far are from Ellora that have the rock cut caves, sculptures and have survived over 1400 years now and going by the conditions , these caves will survive many more decades to come. The real challenge is Ajanta caves , I am yet to post anything from there. Ajanta caves date from 100 BC!! and contain or what is left of it some of the rarest and incredible paintings from that ancient time , these caves were abandoned and overgrown for over 1000 of years before accidentally discovered in the 19th century. Though flash lighting and tripod use are prohibited , I saw the menace of young visitors using their smartphone flash to take pictures of the dark caves and its corridor, with over 20,000 people visiting these sites over the weekend, the security folks can only do that much it’s in a very fragile condition and though restoration work is on but I doubt how long these rare paintings and heritage will survive. Please read this blog on Ajanta - http://double-dolphin..in/2015/12/photography-inside-ajanta-caves-tips-and-tricks.html its very nicely written with the photos that will move you .
Just to give you the scale of Ajanta – Ellora caves are said to be younger by about 600 years. These two locations are about 100 miles apart .
