Description

This July 1st (2016) long weekend, Toronto enjoyed among many other activities a Waterfront Festival. The Festival featured working replicas of tall ships from Canada and the US, a huge cannon armed merchant gallion from Spain and also a Norwegian replica of a Viking longboat, the Dragon Harald Harfagre. While the Dragon was remarkable for its beautiful carving and its colours, it was most remarkable for having crossed the north Atlantic using only sail and oars to power it. This is the beautifully carved top part of the stern of the boat.
