THWACK!

Description

I've done very little "sports photography," primarily the grandkids playing soccer. I remain uncomfortable using my Tamron 200-400 zoom lens for sports because of its size and its narrow viewing angle.

This shot was made with my Tamron 200-200 mm zoom. Since it can be hand held, it was possible to more effectively follow the action.

Exposure Info.: f/8.0, 1/320, ISO 200, FL = 200 mm.

While I've been taking pictures for many years and have owned a tripod for mor than 35, I never learned to use one until a trip to Arches. And, with Tamron 200-400 mm zoom, with its 5 degre angle of view, pictures at the grandkids soccer games have been a dissappointment. I felt I had more control at the Polo Match with the 28-200 zoom. That being said, Arches taught me to step back and "smell the roses," as Bill Tilldon said. #11489472
