Hindu Deity

As part of a food tasting tour in Singapore, we visited Chinatown. Captured this image on the roof of one of the temples close by showing a Hindu deity. Hindu Images of the gods often have multiple arms, with each hand holding a symbolic object or making a certain Mudra (gesture) that have a specific meaning. For example an open palm facing the viewer indicates protection and favor and tells the worshiper to have no fear. This is perhaps a welcoming exhibit for the tourists who come by.

Your photo is so detailed and colorful, Rey, with exceptional composition, as always. The information regarding Hindu images is fascinating, especially about the hand gestures. #1657073
