Wild Lantana

Uploaded: November 03, 2015 | Entered: November 03, 2015 04:36:46

Description

Found this little bloom, about an inch and a half across, on a walk in a conservation area and didn't know what it was and sent the county extension agent a picture. There is a native wild lantana, it turns out, but this one is probably an escapee at one point from a yard plant and may now be a hybrid. It's recommended in Florida not to plant these because they are invasive plants here.

Lantana has very pretty flowers, but it is classed as a noxious weed in Australia! They have been trying to get rid of it for years without a lot of success! #11394796

Lantana grows wild in Texas as well. #11394842

Seem to see these just about where ever one goes. The small flowers that make into a bunch have such gorgeous colors and are so pretty in bloom. Beautiful colors, love the presentation, details sharp and clear. #11395207
