Finding My Family

As my life goes on I wonder more and more what my family history is.
Often times we find bits and pieces of who we are through understanding those that came before us.
I'm grateful for family, sharing what they know, talking of their lives and passions.
My Uncle just passed away. He was an amazing man. An artist, writer, poet, lawyer and a very kind, intelligent man. So many are sharing neat bits of family history at this time, too.
We've had many teachers and doctors, "root" food farmers, wood craftsmen all through our family history. Records dating back to the 1400's on one side of the family in Switzerland. Even Irish Gypsies! HA! Artists...
Scottish & English Royals on the other side plus a Famous Candy Store owner a century ago in Phili...
Very fascinating.
I HOPE YOU ARE ENJOYING YOUR LIVES

How true! Even with my Dad gone now I have questions I hadn't even thought to ask or knew to ask. But thankfully I still have Aunts left I could ask. One in particular has her son scanning tons of photos that most of us have never seen before. What a treat! With Great GREAT grandparents in the photos!! :D Thanks so much for the visit. Thank thank you for your condolences.Reynaldo D. Reyes October 23, 2015

My Grandmother and aunt were into geneology- so my brother has all the info. Who knows- maybe you are in there somewhere and we are related! My uncle was an artist and some family came from England too! #11390785Val Feldman October 24, 2015
Funny but I've never been much interested in genealogy but I do/did love hearing and remembering (and retelling!) the many stories of life's twists and turns of my various relatives, past and present - mostly funny ones with always a moral lesson to be learned from the less than funny happenings. So know what you mean - bits and pieces of their DNA are swirling around in us and listening to the stories of who came before gives us a better understanding of who we are now....and, LOTW, I love your "wondering" portrait! #11390868Laura E. Your uncle sounds like he was a very talented man. Sorry to hear of his passing. Beautiful image and words here Laura. #11393667Mary K. Robison November 03, 2015
Sorry I missed this beautiful SP and history information till now, Pom. And I'm sorry you've lost another special relative.. At times like these, it does make the mind want to dig into the family history. I'm another one who regrets not asking my parents about their youth and family before them.. Think I'll call my (90-year-old) (sharp as a tack) Aunt Helen tomorrow... #11394604Emile Abbott November 03, 2015

Hi Ann, Mare, Emile, Amalia and Chris :) I have one Auntie that I ask questions to and she is very knowledgeable and honest about things. I enjoy hearing about our family on that side from her. There is no one left to ask on moms side that knows anything. Sad. Thanks very much for all you have said. Big hugs to all of you for caring about me and enjoying this image. Pommy Lala :) #11398425Laura L. Gonzales November 23, 2015
