Happy TKW Day!

Well, they're actually calling their mum who is off worm hunting. Dad is not far away screeching at me. The nest is brilliantly located on the second shelf of a serving cart on our back deck, and surrounded by thick foliage on two sides. She stayed dry during torrential rain while she was incubating the three eggs. The baby robin in the foreground was the last to break out of his shell, the day before this was shot (two days ago). Hard to believe they will all leave the nest in a week from now.

Where robins decide to nest is always "interesting." Had a pair one spring insist on being on top of the porch light right where the door opened. This is a beautiful image of the little ones insisting on life. I didn't realize they would leave the nest that soon. #11295372Terry Cervi May 01, 2015

Wow capture, Michelle!!! #11299659Michelle Alton May 10, 2015
Sadly, the mother abandoned the babies after about three days of feeding them. When I realized she was no longer around, I checked the nest and there was only one chick left. It was gone a few hours later, undoubtedly the victim of predation. Sad. #11299680Kathy Reeves May 10, 2015
Adorable, Michelle. Only a week!~ #11300006Marilyn K. Lincecum May 12, 2015
So cute. I cannot believe you were able to get so close to them. How sad to hear that none of them made it...again I cannot believe the mother abandoned them after only three days. #11301266Michelle Alton May 13, 2015
Actually I wasn't so close. I was standing on a step stool on the opposite side of the deck. But I think maybe there was too much human traffic in the area. But we will never know. #11301323Dianne Brin May 14, 2015
