Spiral

Description

The larger buildings in Florence very often have bulging iron 'window cages' on their lower windows. This is a sideways view of the lower part of one; the large spiral sits at the bottom of the cage's bulging profile; usually 3 other spirals are found rising above this one, shrinking in size as they fill the tapering gap. (Two of them, on the far side of this cage, are discernible in the blurred-out background.)

Exif: F Number: 8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.33, ExposureTime: 1/20 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 800, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 180.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 6D

Beautiful iron work! Nicley capture, I like the hint of the other spirals in the bg. #11194715

Thanks, folks! Many, many of the buildings in Florence had this exact pattern of 'window cage'; they were a real presence, as we were walking the streets each day. #11195183

Thank you, Martha!
I also posted a photo (just tonight) of a broader view of the typical cages this detail comes from. #11196374
