Eurasian Red Squirrel

Description

This little Eurasian Red Squirrel was scampering all around the Catherine's Park. I had not seen this kind of squirrel before. It is smaller than the American Grey Squirrel and has distinguishing ear-tufts. Its color varies from season to season and it sheds its coat twice a year with varying seasons. Lighter coat in summer and heavier coat in winter. They move very fast and are hard to capture.

Cute tufts! I've never seen one of these fellows either except in photos...they certainly don't look like our TX squirrels, for sure. Good timing to catch one before it scampered away and great shutter work to stop the motion of it doing just that! :) #11055504
