Second Wave
Uploaded: November 10, 2005
Photographed in the Coyote Buttes region of the Paria wilderness on the Utah-Arizona border with a Nikon D100 and Nikkor 28-200 zoom lens, settings unknown. Image cropped, and adjusted with saturation, levels, and unsharp mask in Photoshop CS. Just a few steps away from the more famous "Wave" is this lovely formation, dubbed the "Second Wave".

Thanks so much folks for your kind remarks. This region of the Paria wilderness is a photographer's dream. I'll be posting a few more pics from Coyote Buttes in the near future. #2058902Janine Russell November 10, 2005
Stephen, awesome detail and lines; beautiful landscape. #2058937Karen E. Michaels November 10, 2005
Your lines and colors are wonderful. I find the brush at the bottom a bit distracting. That can easily be cured with some cloning. Peace, karen #2059014Pat Gamwell November 10, 2005
This is amazing, Stephen! I didn't know anything like this existed! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC CAPTURE!. #2059331Sharon Day November 10, 2005
Awesome capture and perspective!!! #2059634Stephen A. Liverman November 10, 2005
Thanks Janine, Karen, Pat and Sharon for you complementary remarks. Karen, thanks especially for the critique; rather than clone out the vegetation, I may be able to find an image from a similar angle without the 'shubbery' to post. #2060201Karen Slagle February 17, 2006
Wow - I love these colors and textures in the sandstone. The waves add so much to the overall image. I would love to visit this place. This is gorgeous. #2430385Cathy Gregor April 09, 2006
