Cape Arago Coast

Description

Cape Arago Lighthouse has an interesting history, while the history of the island it sits on, Chief Island, goes back many more years. The island in the foreground, with the dead trees, is called either “Squaw Island” or “Qochyax Island”. This entire area, near Coos Bay, is a place of immense beauty… with its cliffs and waves… and its fascinating geology and history. I’m sure many ancient spirits dwell there yet today… and still listen to the poetry of the waves crashing on the reefs and shoreline.
