Union League Club -- Philadelphia
Uploaded: January 30, 2014
----
This is Broad Street about two blocks from City Hall. It was early May, 2010. I was standing at the top of the curvy staircase leading to the club's portico.
----
The Union Leagues were a group of mens' clubs established during the American Civil War to promote loyalty to the Union, the Republican Party, and the policies of Abraham Lincoln. They were also known as Loyal Leagues.
----
Philadelphia's club, founded in 1862, is posh and formal and is rated "4 Diamonds."
