Beautiful, Beth, but oh does it look cold. #1561238Michelle Alton January 27, 2014
It's fantastic looking. When I was a little girl, more than 50 years ago, to get to school, I had to cross over what once as the Erie Canal in Rochester, New York.
---
Later the canal bed became an express way, and an open foot bridge was erected, with aluminum rails that we weren't supposed to lick in Winter.
----
But to get to the old covered bridge,
we had to walk up several long flights of stairs that were also enclosed by a roof. They were dilapidated structures, and I remember that they did not smell so good inside. They DID, however, block the frigid wind.
---
When the new bridge was built, many children felt it was incumbent upon them to lick the bridge. Lots of tongues were stuck on the bridge!

Thank you, Mary Beth. It was cold that day, but it was beautiful. Michelle, I love covered bridges and they do block the wind and they have more character than metal bridges. I sure am glad I never felt the need to see what happens when you lick aluminum in winter. #10957940Joannie Bertucci January 28, 2014
Beth, I love covered bridges also and this image is a quintessential presentation of a covered bridge! The winter scene is breath-taking! #10958101Beth W. DeBor January 28, 2014
