Tiny Nose and the Soft Box
Uploaded: October 28, 2013
---
James Schmelzer, lighting expert extraordinaire, has been representing Westcott at photography trade shows for over 25 years. He is also a "Kelby Trainer." (see discussion area).
----
This was my third consecutive year attending the Photo Plus Expo in New York City. Though I attend the show Thursday through Saturday, I invariably come home saying that I learned more in the hour I spent watching Schmelzer's seminar than in any photography tutorial, bar NONE.
-----
In this shot he was trying to show how to make the light coming from the model's right "climb" over her nose and light the opposite side of her face. But THIS model had a tiny (flat-ish) nose so he had to improvise, asking her to place her index finger on top of her nose to simulate a bigger nose.
