Fairmount Water Works - Long View
Uploaded: September 03, 2013
----
Yesterday's post isolated a single element of the most brilliant view (better than Boat House Row IMHO) on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
---
Today I'm providing a view of the historic Water Works and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (rear view), which sits upon Fair Mount, a rocky bluff on which the original reservoir stood.
---
It was on the FRONT steps of the Art Museum that Rocky Balboa trained for his famous boxing match (in the movie).
---
The view of this scene from the Schuylkill Expressway or the I-676 off ramp to I-95 is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
----
There are no good places to park your car to photograph this site. The best way is to park near the Art Museum and hike down to a path that leads to a foot bridge over the river to the opposite bank (alongside the highway).
