There are some great patterns in this. I think the DOF was too shallow and is hindering this image some. The bottom tree knot is just too large and out of focus.

but the shape and contours of the center one worth working with. You might try a crop of some portion of the top half or maybe even just limited the center knot down to swirl just above the bottom knot. I like the blue for color contrast. #1539986

I agree with Stephen-seems like the center knot is in focus. Can you recrop the top knot out? With it there, my eyes keep searching for the knot in focus. The blue is a little too cool for me, but that is just my opinion.

I do think you have a very interesting piece of wood to work with here!

Again, it is weird seeing your photos of things from this side of the world! #10804500

Thanks Stephen and Elaine, if I keep getting reminded, I will eventually check my dof in these kind of shots :) #10805601

Yup, what they said. . . . #10805825

I will not be reading Stephen's comments in the future. He drags my attention to things that I just don't notice and then I can't take my eyes off them and have to go wipe my glasses with a lens wipe to put the whole world back into unblurred focus. lol
I like it Lisa.

I like this Lisa, I like all the texture and tones that is going on. I have always found knots very interesting. some thing you might consider is pulling back so that the lens can focus and then crop to this.view. #10809456

I really like the textures in this and the blue color on the tree. I would like to see the crop to see if it makes a difference. #10812695
